Pardon the dust around the Conejo Valley and check out the latest city improvements!

If you’ve driven around the Conejo Valley lately, you may have noticed a few roadblocks and delays. As the City of Thousand Oaks works to improve local infrastructure, we’d like to take the opportunity to notify you of all the construction projects and community updates in the area. Check out the latest in construction in your neighborhood.

Groundwater

Despite the recent rains, drought continues to plague California. The City of Thousand Oaks imports water to meet water demands and has set out to help offset drought issues by finding alternative water sources. Thousand Oaks has recently conducted a study to identify local groundwater sources in the Conejo Valley that could be used to help with our drought. The research found that the city could use such water to account for ten percent of the city’s water consumption. Over the next few years, the city is considering constructing wells to implement the study’s research into practice.

Highway 23 Interchange

A new lane is coming to the SR-23/US 101 connectors. The City of Thousand Oaks along with grants from both state and federal government is funding the project that is expected to finish sometime this year. Along with the additional lane, the project is to build sound walls, widen bridges, and realign on and off ramps. While the ultimate goal of the project is to alleviate traffic, its construction is contributing to delays and road closures. The project brings lane closures during night and off-peak hours. Be sure to use caution when driving in the area.

Westlake Sidewalk

New sidewalks are coming to town! Beginning in the Summer of 2016, construction will add a sidewalk to Westlake Boulevard between Triunfo Canyon Road and Agoura/Hampshire Road. While the project is expected to be completed by Fall of 2017, you can expect traffic delays and sidewalk closures in the meantime.
